Baptism Update

Basically the conversations with Nate's sister and brother-in-law are done. We have just agreed to disagree for now. The verse (the only verse) that they refer to is 1 Peter 3:21 which says in their version which is King James "and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also -- not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ." They say this is their proof that infant baptism saves you. If anyone has any thoughts on this verse, that would be great. Nate and I have looked up other versions of the Bible and it doesn't mean salvation. Our version, which is NIV, says it's a symbol but how do you explain that to two people that don't want to hear it? We could just use more prayer for patience and LOVE towards them at all times. Thanks

Prayer Request/Beloit

Nate and I tried to go to Beloit again tonight and after emailing the guy in our unit, they still were unaware we were coming. We were pretty bummed out because we weren't able to go inside because the boys had a rough day according to this lady who you could tell did not want us there. So that was discouraging.

Our prayer request is for us/Nate's sister and brother-in-law. They emailed us very concerned that we do not believe infant baptism saves you, which is kind of ironic seeing how we have been praying for them in the opposite direction of course. We have shared a few emails back and forth and aren't sure what the outcome of this is going to be but desperately need your prayers. Pastor Jeff has been helpful and we know what God's word says more than we have ever known about this issue and we're thankful for that. Please pray that we would be patient with them and keep a loving and nondivisive conversation about this. Thanks! (sorry so long)

Beloit

We forgot to mention that we will not be there on Tuesday. Tyler and I will be in Indiana all week visiting the grandparents. Dan and I plan on going to Beloit the following Tuesday.

James' Father Update

Well Group, Krista and I returned from Casper, WY earlier in the week.  It’s amazing knowing how Christ can really change your perspective in situations such as this.  If it wasn’t for our Father in Heaven, I’m not sure how we would have made it through the weekend.  We spent a lot of time praying with my dad (over my dad) and with other family members.  We do pray for God’s glory to be seen.  Pray that our family would be drawn closer to Christ and that my Dad would realize the importance of monitoring his health.  Thank you for your continued prayers.

On the health update-My Dad is still in ICU and with an induced coma.  He only has a broken neck, broken breast bone, and a bruised heart.  However, he’s healing nicely and may soon be able to breathe on his own.  Thanks Again!  God Bless!

Urgent Prayer Request-Update

I just wanted to send an update on the most recent info. I also do not know how often I will have access to a computer.

My Dad will not be paralyzed. He has a broken collar bone, broken breast bone-which bruised his heart, possible broken ribs, and broken bones in the back. He came out of the coma later in the evening, but they induced him back into it because they don't want him moving around. He's severely bruised, but he's able to move his arms and legs. Krista and I will be in Casper tomorrow-we're laid over in Kearney, NE. Thank you for your prayers.

In love,
James

Urgent Prayer Request

Krista and I are on our way to Wyoming.  I received a call this afternoon that my Dad was being flown to Casper.  He was in a car accident and has a broken bone in his neck, lower back, and chest.  He’s also currently in a coma.  If you could all please pray for my family it would be most appreciated.  I’ve never been in this situation before, so I’m not sure what to expect-my Dad is not a Christian.  Thank you for your prayers.

In love,

James

New Position!

If you check this please be praying for me tomorrow. In the last three business days, I was called, interviewed and offered a teaching position! The sticky part is that school starts in two weeks and new teachers need to be at orientations on Monday. So, that's not even a weeks notice. Hopefully, she will understand. Please pray for my preschool boss and I to both handle things well! Great new God opportunities!! See you tomorrow night!

Beloit

Hey, everybody, I was just checking in to see how Beloit went this week for you since we didn't get to talk to everyone. Our boys were kind of naughty today so we only got to play with two of them, which was really nice actually. My boy told me he would like to go to Sunday School, but he is twelve so I'm kind of thinking about what we could do. Does anyone know if that is considered 180 of D6? Eric and Jenni, that's awesome news about your house! We have lots of boxes if you need them!

Krista Update

Krista and I want to thank all of you for your prayers. It turns out that Krista has iron deficiency anemia. The same diagnosis as her doctor here.

The problem: Krista was prescribed an acid-reflux medication a couple years ago that prevents the acid in her stomach to absorb the iron (food or supplement). The Mayo doctor is placing her on a different medication that will allow maximum absorption. As long as Krista follows the doctor's directions on taking the medicine, she should be back to normal levels in 6 months. On a plus note, the doctor did say that from everything he can see from Krista's medical record-she's receiving excellent medical care in Ames-WOOHOO! Praise God!

Update

Hello everyone. Nate and I found out that they did not accept our offer and didn't even counter offer, so that was kind of surprising. We offered low expecting them to counter, but they didn't so we feel like it was a pretty clear answer that God wants us to stay right where we are. So we will plan to move to Somerset at the end of July and wait and see what is next for us. Thanks for your prayers! James and Krista, let us know how things go!!!

Prayer Request

Just a prayer request update that Nate and I put an offer on the house so we will see what happens. Please pray for patience and contentment with whatever the answer will be.

Ideas of things to do at Beloit

  • open/close time with prayer
  • crafts (creating a "Me" binder with pictures cut out from magazines)
  • games (musical chairs, zingo, twister, charades)
  • reading
  • songs with motions
  • ice breakers
  • makeovers with girls

We also decided that for our first meeting with the kids we would make name tags for everyone (as an arts and crafts project) and then collect them at then end and bring them back each time.

Notes from meeting with Beloit

Our first session is next week on the 29th. Meet at 6:45 at the main doors like last time. The following information is what I wrote down. I'm sure there are things I missed so hopefully you remember them!

I guess I should check in and let you know it works for us as well!

Saturday, May 19, 2007

I'm on!! We'll see if I can figure it all out. But I think I figured out how to leave a message?

Thursday, May 17, 2007

It works well for us! I think you just need to have a google account - be it with a blogger account, or gmail, then you can post here as well. Thanks Jenna!
So I figured out that I think I need to add all of you as authors to this blog so that you can post stuff just like I can rather than just comments. I'm going to try it anyway and let me know if it is funky or what. There's a lot of options with this that I didn't know about. So it just asks me to put in email addresses of the authors I want, so don't be surprised if you get an email about it.

I did it!!!

Hello everyone! I have created this nice little blog for us all to communicate over the summer and to help each other out with ideas for Beloit. You can post anything you want on here. I'm pretty sure you can post pictures too if you feel like it. I know for sure you can post comments, but I may have to post pictures if you have any. I don't know. I'm a rookie blogger;)
